Maris house, the woodwork between the kitchen and dining room, next to the chimney, having become overheated. It was an awkward time to get the hose cart, with the streets nearly impassable from the snowdrifts, but a mule was hitched on to the cart and he took it down to the location. In the meantime, the fire was extinguished with a few buckets of water. The damage to the building was slight. Will Edwards brought in 300 head of sheep for shipment, and J. C. Edwards brought in 48 head of cattle. They are being fed in Reed’s Yards until the railroad company is ready to take them out.
