* And So They Say: Mrs. Mary Stewart: 'I saw a really beautiful sight Sunday morning. It was a deer standing up against an evergreen tree in our yard. It would have made a nice picture.' Rhada Hutton: 'The big news is that the fish are biting again at Webster.' Mrs. Verl Walker: 'Whoever left that package on my doorstep, I wish they had put their name on it as I would like to thank them for it.'

* The season's largest crowd was at Stockton Tuesday night to see the Mid-Continent League Championship game between the Stockton Tigers and the Hill City Ringnecks. Both of them had 5-0 league records. It is safe to say that about half of those present were disappointed with Stockton's 12-0 victory and surprised that the Tigers could hold the Ringnecks scoreless.

* The thousands of people at Osborne last Friday night to watch two undefeated football teams battle it out were not disappointed in the game, but Stockton fans were disappointed in the outcome, with the 27-12 defeat coming from a fine ball club.

* Stockton's Goblin's Glory was unusually successful, with a large crowd on hand that enjoyed the various carnival contests and attractions. FFA sponsor Floyd Blauer thought the evening's profit would be between $1,100.00 and $1,200.00. The Queen and King were Marilyn Schindler and Brent Casad, with attendants Norma Bellerive, Pam Dean, Eldon Kriley, and Mike Saunders. Alvin Smith and Chuck Look were the crown bearers, and school board member Mrs. Sophia Hazen did the crowning to the fanfare of trumpets.

* Frankie Slansky and his friend Charles Rogers of Kansas City, who had visited him several times in Stockton, were featured in a story in the Cadet Journal, the school paper of St. Joseph’s Military Academy of Hays. The story was about a project they were doing in their woodwork class, which differed from the run-ofthe- mill work. The boys were making duck decoys, which were very true to life. They made the ducks out of Styrofoam, which allowed them to float. They were fashioned and painted to resemble Mallards, Red Heads, Canvas Back, and Teal, and they planned to use them when they had their boat, which they were working on at the Slansky home, completed.

* Vandals were again doing dirty work by stealing the light bulbs at the municipal airport, which light the runways. The bulbs are expensive but no good to the thieves, and besides that, the unlighted runways were hazardous. City authorities had a good idea of who was responsible, and they hoped the practices would cease before the families of the vandals had to be embarrassed.

* From The Feminine Slant By The Office Cat: Everyone would like a nice easy job like the other fellow.

* Looking Backward Fourteen Years Ago: Mr. and Mrs. John Graham planned to celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary. District Judge W. K. Skinner was resigning after serving for nearly 20 years. The Tigers and Beloit had tied 19-19.

* On sale at Glenn's Mr. AG were four cans of Shurfine peaches for $1.00, Kraft French dressing for 49¢ a bottle, beef roasts for 55¢ a pound, and a case of Shurfine corn for $4.80.

* The Stockton Farmers Union Elevator and Service Station at Stockton and Woodston were to host an Open House with coffee and doughnuts on Saturday, November 4th.

* Showing at the Nova Theatre were 'Don't Make Waves” starring Tony Curtis and Sharon Tate, and 'Tarzan and the Valley of Gold.'
