He was born on May 8, 1960, in Ellsworth, to Theodore C. and Saundra (McGee) Frederking. He married Lori J. Panzer on October 17, 1981, in Hays. They were blessed with four children: Shawn, Brandon, Katelyn, and Logan.

Carmelita M. Pomeroy, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

Carmelita (Wedman) was born December 19, 1932, in Danville, Kansas, the daughter of Francis & Laura (Oliver) Wedman, where she was raised on a farm and grew up with seven siblings.

She married Carl Pomeroy on November 26, 1951, in Danville. They lived in Stockton, Kansas, briefly before moving to Garden City in 1967. They have lived in Garden City and Lakin since.

Sylvester Tryon “Bus” Hartnett

Sylvester Tryon “Bus” Hartnett of Wichita passed away on March 21, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, in Wichita, at age 86.

He was born on December 30, 1936, to Bluford Andrew (“B.A.”), Sr., and Lucy Helen (Welch) Hartnett, in Mullinville, Kansas.

Bus graduated from Plainville High School. He was the quarterback of the Cardinal football team when they won the championship in 1953, and the Cardinals accomplished a 38-game winning streak in the early ’50s. Bus was also awarded the Leon Bair trophy as an outstanding senior player and sportsman.

Lynette Gae Eaton

Lynette Gae Eaton, age 67, passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2023, in Olathe, Kansas. She bravely fought her battle with cancer for 26 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 8 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation following until 5:00 p.m. in Garrett Chapel, College Church of the Nazarene, 2020 East Sheridan Street, Olathe, Kansas. Burial will take place on Monday, April 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Green Mound Cemetery, rural Palco.

Theodore "Ted" Harold Swayne

Goodland resident Theodore "Ted" Harold Swayne, 86, passed away after a long illness at Goodland Regional Medical Center on March 31, 2023.

Ted was born on December 1, 1936, northeast of Kanorado to Henry Franklin Swayne Sr. and Wilma Ethel (Doggett) Swayne. He was one of seven children. He attended school in Kanorado and graduated from Kanorado High School in 1955.
