Ted L. Lambert, 85, passed away on October 29, 2023, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville.

He was born on December 12, 1937, at the family farm to the late Alford E. and Ival M. (Kern) Lambert.

He married Freda J. Hiser on Feb. 27, 1960, in Plainville. They were blessed with four children: Becky, Chris, Mark, and Donna.

Ted took great pride in his community. He was an active member of the Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus, and the Palco Pride Committee. Ted was also a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Damar.

Ernest L. McElfish

Ernest L. McElfish of Plainville passed away on October 24, 2023, at Redbud Village in Plainville, at the age of 91.

He was born on December 17, 1931, to Ernest and Martha (Ede) McElfish in Mulberry, Kansas.

He was married on April 4, 1982, to Melva Irene Kerns. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2019.

Penny Rae Law

Penny Rae Law, 59, of Hill City, entered into the arms of Jesus on October 26, 2023.

She was born September 11, 1964, at the Graham County Hospital in Hill City to Clarene (Haynes) and Randall Law.

Penny grew up on a farm between Hill City and WaKeeney. She attended grade school in Hill City and furthered her education at Beamgard Learning Center in Atwood. At age 21, Penny began attending Kobler Center (DSNWK) and, a few years later, started a job cleaning at Pizza Hut in the mornings. Penny gained many lifelong friendships through these experiences.

Ted Lambert passed away on October 29, 2023, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, KS, at the age of 85.

He was born to Alford E. and Ival M (Kern) Lambert on the family farm in Rooks County, Kansas on December 12, 1937.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar, Kansas, starting at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Pleasantview Cemetery in Palco, Kansas. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Parish Vigil and Rosary starting at 7 p.m. at the church in Damar.

Viola “Vi” (Moeder) Prosser

Viola “Vi” (Moeder) Prosser, 90, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and faithfully devoted to her Lord and Savior, was welcomed to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

She was born December 23, 1932, and was one of ten siblings.

Vi married Francis Prosser on June 2, 1956, in Odin, and they raised five children. They were married for sixty-one years. Following Frank’s death in 2017, Vi continued to live on and operate their family farm.

Cynthia Gail Judd

Cynthia Gail Judd, 69, passed away on October 21, 2023, at Medicalodges of Great Bend, Kansas.

She was born on August 25, 1954, in Wichita, Kansas, to William and Phyllis (Corley) Votapka. On November 28, 1981, she married Mark A. Judd in Phillipsburg, Kansas.

A long-time Great Bend resident from Stockton, Cindy worked as an accountant for CPI and financial manager for 20/20 Optix. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

Cindy was an avid reader, enjoyed KU basketball games, and participated in the Relay For Life Survivor Walk.

Edna “LaVerne” (Horton) Hackerott

Edna “LaVerne” (Horton) Hackerott, of Plainville, passed away on October 15, 2023, at the Redbud Village in Plainville, at the age of 101.

She was born on October 18, 1921, to Harry and Ruth (Henry) Workman in Plainville.

She married Troy Lee Horton on September 10, 1939. To this union, four children were born: Jack, Linda, Barbara, and Curtis. Troy passed away on January 14, 1972. On August 17, 1974, LaVerne married Gordon Lowell Hackerott, and she was blessed with four stepchildren: Roger, Larry, Roberta, and Mary. Gordon passed away on March 20, 2001.
