* The faculty for the Stockton Rural High School was to remain the same for the coming school year as all contracts had been signed. William Voss was to serve as superintendent, Floyd Blauer was to teach Vo Ag, Eva Griebel was to teach Home Economics, Bessie O’Connor was to serve as Guidance Counselor, Orgene Loftin was to coach football and teach Industrial Arts, John Locke was to coach basketball and teach Drivers Ed, Jack Miller was to teach Mathematics, Don Unruh was to teach Social Sciences, Kathryn Unruh was to teach English, Winton Sheffer was to teach English, LeRoy Thornburg was to teach Science, Patricia Kirkbride was to teach Spanish and English, and C. R. Scott was to teach Commerce.

* Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Atherton were the parents of a little girl born on February 17th.

* The Plainville Jaycees were set to sponsor an Open House and conduct tours of the Rooks County Home for the Aged over the weekend. Everyone was invited to attend and get acquainted with the new operators, Mr. and Mrs. John Wills. They were also sponsoring a contest to name the facility.

* John Smith, a consultant engineer from Hays, was to start the engineering work for the streets in Hillcrest Addition. Petitions were also on file in the city clerk’s office for improvements on South Fifth Street and Cedar west of Cypress and Ash from Third to Fifth. City manager Harper suggested that petitions from any other residents on other streets needed to be filed as soon as possible so the work could all be done at the same time.

* From The Feminine Slant By The Office Cat: The only way to keep your living room neat and clean is for it not to be a living room.

* Looking Backward Fourteen Years Ago: Oliver Crowell (54) had died while at work at the Wyatt Service Station. Twenty-nine-year-old Marine pilot, Lt. Loren Grover, had been killed in an airplane crash at Cherry Point, N. C. The Chamber of Commerce reported that about $1,700.00 had been spent during the year on projects and activities.

* Mr. and Mrs. Efford Lowe had announced the recent marriage of their daughter, Virginia Lee, to Robert C. Angelovic.

* Guests at Pam Dean’s twelfth birthday part were Cindy Lowe, Jan Phelps, Kathy and Linda Poore, Linda and Debbie Niermeier, Debbie Bobbit and Cathy Hageman. The girls enjoyed dinner and then attended the movie at the Nova Theatre.

* On sale at Oyer Food Marker were three cans of Del Monte peaches for 89¢, a dozen Sunkist oranges for 49¢, a package of wieners for 49¢, and two pounds of hamburger for 89¢.

* Dennis Farr, George Adolphus Dunlap, Catherine Walker and Anna May Mitchell had passed away.

* Showing at the Nova Theatre were the movies “Tarzan the Magnificent,” and “Come Blow Your Horn,” starring Frank Sinatra.
