The Council of the City of Woodston met in the Council Chamber at the City Hall on Monday, October 10th, 2022 at 7:20 p.m. Council members present were Bill Dibble, Kate Terry and Thomas Yakish with Charles O’Neill absent from the meeting.

Special Thanksgiving feature in this week’s Sentinel

The third-grade students of Martha Fleck and Brooke Werner at Stockton Grade School are featured in individuals ads in this week’s Sentinel. Each student was given a letter of the alphabet. They were then asked to create a poster representing what they are thankful for this Thanksgiving, which begins with their assigned letter.

Stockton Junior High music students perform at Northwest KMEA Concert

Performing at the Northwest District KMEA Mini Convention I Concert on Saturday, November 5th were Stockton Junior High music vocalists Pierce Gray, Sierra Jackson, Christine Jurgens, Lincoln Keller, Camille Lowry, Brenna Odle, Mia Odle, Isaac Thayer and Shae Yohon as well as instrumentalists Lyric Snyder, Skylar Amlong, Meredith Moffett and Vincent Thayer. The concert was held at Hays High School with Shana Lander the guest clinician for the Honor Choir. The students from throughout the northwest district performed the following song selections “Laudate Dominum,” arranged by Cristi Cari Miller; “Throw Open Your Shutters” arranged by Amy Bernon; “Riversong” arranged by Andy Beck; and “How Can I Keep From Singing?” arranged by Greg Gilpin.

History isn’t simply the study of famous people or important events. History can be found through dimensions and length. Measurements established both infrastructure and everyday transportation. The history of movement melts down to one simple measurement, 4 feet, 8½ inches. This became the standard railroad gauge used throughout the United States. But even that size had its own historical establishment.
