Carnival rides, 4-H events, cars, motorcycles and music at this year’s Rooks County Free Fair

The Rooks County Free Fair begins this Sunday, August 6th, with a few changes in the lineup for the week, starting with the grandstand entertainment.

This year’s Fair will kick off with the Terry Goesha Memorial Hobby Stock two-day show featuring IMCA modified, IMCA hobby stock qualifier heats and sports compacts on Sunday night, August 6th.

And back by popular demand is the High Plains Late Model Series.

Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m., with races at 6:00 p.m.

On Monday evening, August 7th, the second night of the IMCA stock cars races will feature the Dirt Crown Summer Racing Series! You won’t want to miss this night of racing, with the grandstand gates to open at 6:00 p.m. and the races to start at 7:00 p.m. (For more information, visit Dean Kester, promoter, at https:// kestercustoms.com/) Ticket prices are $15.00 for Adults, $10.00 for Youth (612), and Free for Children 5 and Under. There is plenty to do on Tuesday evening, August 8th, starting with the Ranch Rodeo. This free event will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Frank Smith Arena.

Also, you can be a spectator or bring your own RC car for the Blue Ribbon RC Racing. The races will be held at 7:00 p.m. and include classes 2WD, 4WD, Buggy, and Novice. There is a $1,000.00 total cash purse with additional prizes. And don’t forget the Friends of Webster State Park Cornhole Tournament will be held in the grandstand infield with check-in at 6:30 p.m. with the tournament to start at 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, August 9th, there is no grandstand entertainment because everyone will be on the midway to enjoy the family- operated Pride of Texas Carnival! The carnival will be open from Wednesday through Saturday evenings, and you won’t be disappointed with all of the rides, games, and food concessions this amusement company has to offer. Rides open at 6:00 p.m. each evening. Presale armbands can be purchased at the Fair Office now for $25.00 per armband. During the nights of the Fair, the armbands are $30.00 apiece and will be sold at the carnival ticket booth.

On Thursday, August 10th, the Demo Derby will be the grandstand entertainment. The gates open at 5:00 p.m., with the crash up to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 for Adults, $5.00 for Youth (612), and Free for Children 5 and Under.

Then on Friday, August 11th, and Saturday, August 12th, watch the Xtreem Flat Track Motorcycle Races on Rooks County’s historic half-mile track Friday, the grandstand gates open at 6:00 p.m. and races start at 7:00 p.m. Note that on Saturday the races are in the afternoon with the gates to open at 2:00 p.m. for the races at 3:00 p.m. (For more information visit Xtreem Flat Track at www.extreemflattrack. com/) Tickets are $10.00 for Adults, $5.00 for Youth (6-12), and Free for Children 5 and Under.

The lineup of the live music under the Solutions North Bank Pavilion during the Fair begins on Monday with KZNC Party DJs (DJ and Karaoke); Country Nite with DJ Nate on Tuesday; Andy and Kent Chesney on Wednesday; The Box Turtles on Thursday; Taylor Fugitt Band on Friday; and Paramount on Saturday night to bring the weeklong event to a rock and roll end. (8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. nightly) Plus, there are many other morning and afternoon activities throughout the week for everyone to enjoy! On Monday afternoon, the Tallest Corn Plant Contest, sponsored by Nutrien Ag Solutions, will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the Open Class Building. The Lego Challenge will be on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. under the SNB Pavilion. Wednesday, the ever-popular Bingo and Watermelon Feed will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. under the SNB Pavilion, with the Youth Pet Parade at the Sutor-Blauer Arena at 5:30 p.m. The Ag Science Lab will be on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. under the SNB Pavilion with everyone to get some hands-on agriculture science experiences sponsored by the Rooks County Farm Bureau Association. Then, on Friday, the 4-H Livestock Sale will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Sutor-Blauer Arena.

And don’t forget to fill your weekday afternoons by checking out what’s on display in the 4-H and Open Class buildings. Take in all of the livestock, flowers, wheat, vegetables, crafts, sewing, cooking, photography, art, and much more! Commercial Vendors will be open daily from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in Mc-Caslin Hall, and there will be plenty of food stands scattered around to entice you in for a hamburger or barbeque!

Season Passes for the grandstand entertainment can be purchased at the Fair Office. Season passes are $50.00 for Adults, $15.00 for Children 6-12, and Children 5 and Under are FREE.
