ENTERTAINMENT was at its best when Leta Bouchey, Betty Smith and Myrna Kincaid entertained the audiences during the Stockton United Fund Telethon with humorous commercials throughout the years. This picture is from 1997 when the trio did advertisements for Waller Motor Company, Shorty’s Service, the Stockton Sentinel and Webster’s Food Pride during the annual October event. Lucia Hamilton wrote the commercials for the ladies.

THE USD NO. 271 CHAIN GANG worked their final game of the 2020 season last Friday when Stockton hosted the Hoxie Indians at Tiger Stadium. From left are: Henry Sander, Andy Peterson, Jesse Stithem and Tony Wagner. The Gang brings a lot of experience to the job with Wagner having done it for the last 18 years; Sander, over 15 years, Stithem, 14 years, and Peterson, one year, having replaced Mike Rogers, who retired from the position which he held for 45 years.

STOCKTON RECREATION COMMISSION hosted an Adult Softball Tournament last Saturday with the proceeds going to the renovation of Kincaid Field. Six teams competed in the tourney with #RiskReducers, a team sponsored by Heritage Insurance Group, Inc. in Stockton, winning the championship game over M.B.P. out of Great Bend. Members of the winning team are pictured with their trophy and bracket. It was a beautiful day for softball and everyone enjoyed the day being together again and helping out a good cause. A Home Run Derby was also held with Eddy of the M.B.P. team coming out on top after putting seven hits over the fence. Sponsors for the tourney were Solutions North Bank an J-Mart.

JALIA CREIGHTON, a Mt. Pleasant 4-H Club member, proudly shows off the Purple ribbon she won with her entry at this year’s Kansas State Fair. Creighton’s entry, “Grandpa’s Vanishing Cookies,” comes from the undeniable fact that, whenever there is a plate of these cookies around her grandpa, they “vanish.” The cookies are made from a basic cookie recipe of oatmeal and raisin. She tweaked them by adding chocolate chips and walnuts. Jalia stated, “I felt like they needed a little… something. I recommend trying these with a cup of coffee.” The virtual judge’s comments she received on the cookies were as follows: These look tasty; I can see why Grandpa would enjoy them! Uniform in size, light golden color overall, good texture, good portion size. Wish I could taste them!
