McCaslin: “Kansas State University only has two plays—a lateral and a fumble.” Ira Hazen: “Well, at least I accomplished another birthday last week.” Dave Oyer: “That football game with Osborne was worth getting a little bit cold for.”

* A fire at the Les Eckart house southwest of Stockton had been discovered on a Sunday afternoon by a neighbor. James Reidel and the Plainville Rural Fire Department had been summoned. A tractor, Jim Reidel’s trailer house and an old trailer house belonging to the Eckarts had gone up in the blaze. Before the fire truck got there, the owners had fought the fire as best they could with a small bucket brigade. A good many personal belongings were destroyed along with the two trailers. No one lived on the farm, but both the Eckart and Reidel families spent a good deal of time out there. Although it was not known for certain how the fire started, it was believed that it started from some sparks which may have been smoldering in the old trailer house in which Jim had done some welding earlier on that day.

* The Halloween Costume Parade, sponsored by the Monroe-Taylor-Barnes Auxiliary of the VFW had proved to be a delightful affair. * From The Feminine Slant By The Office Cat: Those high prices, which seemed so appalling a few decades ago, would be quite appealing today.

* Looking Backward Fourteen Years Ago: All hunting was to be banned in the state after November 5th because of the drought. The interior of the courthouse was being redecorated with Belisles of Damar doing the work. The Rebekah Drill team was to demonstrate at a two-state conclave at Wichita.

The team had a five win and one loss record during the school year, losing 14-7 in their last game during the finals.
