THE STOCKTON GRADE SCHOOL had won first prize at the first ever Rooks County School Day, which had been held on April 8th, 1922. Quite a few of the county schools were represented in the parade by way of floats, gaily decorated autos and wagons. The parade had been held in the morning with several school exhibits displayed in the Floral Hall for everyone to enjoy throughout the day. Races were held in the afternoon at the track with a music contest capping off the evening in the Methodist Church. It was estimated that over four thousand people took part in the event in some way, shape or form. (Picture courtesy of Jean Lindsey.)

WHILE GOING THROUGH priceless old “Dunning family” photos, Lila Dunning found this jewel. Ray Dunning, Alan’s Dad, wrote on the back: “I worked on building this school house, all the way, from start to finish. I laid the cornerstone and front stones. Many years later, I served as custodian for two years, 1969-1971. I retired at the age of 70.”
