Sheriff’s K9 determines teen had meth, marijuana GREAT BEND — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Great Bend teen on drug charges. Last week Tuesday, after an officer with the Great Bend Police Department made a traffic stop in Great Bend for a traffic violation, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office K-9 “Maxx” was requested to respond.

New owner plans to bring 140-year-old mansion back to life

ABILENE — The Lebold Mansion in Abilene has a new owner, a modern Renaissance man of sorts who has a number of ideas to bring the historic mansion and the public together once again. Joseph Tatner became the owner of the nearly 150-year-old property on June 28. The mansion, which bears a striking resemblance to the Addams Family home, has had a long list of owners which include more than its share of colorful characters, and Tatner acknowledges that he is no exception.

15th annual Waconda Youth Fishing Tournament GLEN ELDER — The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, with support from Kansas Wildscape hosted the 15th annual Youth Fishing Tournament at Waconda Lake on June 5th. Approximately 150 young anglers boarded boats on a perfect day with bright, clear skies, light winds, and temperatures in the 80s.
