Remembering Ernie….
Ernest M. Newell, 89, a lifelong resident of Damar, Kansas, passed away peacefully, May 26, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the oldest of 13 children born to Armond Wilfred and Ruby Amanda (Thybault) Newell. As the children grew, Ernie helped with the younger ones. Norman, the youngest even called Ernie, “Dad”. His parents spoke French in the home and the children learned English when they started to school.

Ryan D. Horner

Phillipsburg resident, Ryan D. Horner, passed away May 22, 2020 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays at the age of 60.

He was born Aug. 19, 1959 in Phillipsburg, the son of Duane and Monnie (Morgan) Horner.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy, of the home; two sons, Mike of McCook, NE and J.R. of Polk City, IA; two daughters, Tandy of Tampa, FL and Jamie of Auburn, KS; two brothers, Dave and Tony, both of Phillipsburg; one sister, Linda Waters of Stockton; and 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Gary Dean Gish

Former Stockton resident Gary Dean Gish passed away May 26, 2020 in Casa Grande, Ariz. at the age of 81.

He was born on December 10, 1938 in Hays, Ks. to Charles and Blanche (Gilmore) Gish. Gary attended school in Palco, Ks. until his senior year, when the family moved to Colorado. He graduated high school in Fort Collins, Colo. in 1956, and shortly thereafter, entered the Navy where he served from 1956-59.

In 1961 he married Angela Marie Cordo in Pueblo, Colo., and to this union three children were born: Kole, Dan and Jillann.

Warren "Dale" Jones

Warren "Dale" Jones passed away April 7, 2020, at the age of 74.

He was born July 8, 1945 in Stockton to Roy and Clara (Pick) Jones. He lived his entire life in the Woodston/Stockton area. He spent most of his adult life in and around the harvest field. He had many friends from Oklahoma to North Dakota. Dale was known to his friends as a storyteller and enjoyed attending the horse races. He was a retired member of the Phillipsburg National Guard.
