Commissioners have short morning meeting

Meeting with the Rooks County Commissioners on Tuesday, September 20th was Ronda Morgan from the appraiser’s office. Morgan was in to get approval for the purchase of several shirts and sweatshirts for the office employees that had been ordered throughout the year. The office had just received the final bill for all of the clothing. The commissioners approved the shirt purchases in the total amount of $896.57.

Zach Kesler marks 20 years keeping watch at Webster State Lake

Zach Kesler stepped into his position as Webster State Lake’s Park Ranger on September 1st, 2002, and officially became the park manager in February of 2007. When Kesler started twenty years ago, he had just received his degree in Park Management and Conservation from Kansas State University. While in college he worked for the Corps of Engineers at Tuttle Creek for two summers and one summer at Perry State Park by Topeka.

Update on Ezra

Ezra Scott (4), who has Chronic granulomatous, received his bone marrow transplant from his younger brother, Charlie (2 1/2), during the middle of August at the Seattle Children’s Hospital. After a 21-day waiting period, the doctors recently performed the tests to see if the transplant took. Here is what his grandmother Ellen has written: “All of Ezra’s blood work is starting to come back normal!

For the third week in a row, Rooks County State Fishing Lake in under an active “Warning” Advisory for Blue-Green Algae. The latest advisories were released Thursday afternoon, September 15, from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP).
