THE USD NO. 271 CHAIN GANG worked their final game of the 2020 season last Friday when Stockton hosted the Hoxie Indians at Tiger Stadium. The Gang brings a lot of experience to the job with Wagner having done it for the last 18 years; Sander, over 15 years, Stithem, 14 years, and Peterson, one year, having replaced Mike Rogers, who retired from the position which he held for 45 years.

Last Tuesday the Stockton Lady Tigers were in Almena for a triangular with Logan and the Lady Huskies. Stockton’s varsity girls went 1-1 on the evening, defeating Northern Valley 25-23, 25-22, but losing to Logan 22-25, 21-25.

The Stockton Tigers were in Downs last Thursday for the Lakeside Cross Country Meet. Due to COVID-related reasons, the 32 registered runners split into two different races.

Mid-Continent League Volleyball Tournament action began last Thursday with the Stockton Lady Tigers traveling to TMP for pool play. In their first match, the Stockton girls fell to TMP 19-25, 6-25.

The Stockton Tigers made another impressive showing last Thursday at the Mid-Continent League/ Phillipsburg Invitational Cross Country Meet held at the golf course. Freshman Johnny Hamel placed fifth in both the MCL and Invitational meets, with a time of 19:07.72, despite running the final 600 meters with only one shoe.

The Stockton Tigers hosted the Rawlins County Buffaloes last Friday night in non-conference, District 8 action with the Tigers being defeated 42-15. With the loss they fall to 0-6 on the season.

The Stockton Lady Tigers finished second in the 2020 Mid-Continent Elementary League Volleyball Tournament after going 1-1 in the triangular held at Phillipsburg this Monday. The Lady Tigers defeated TMP, but lost to the Lady Panthers to finish as runners-up.

After being in quarantine the past two weeks, the Stockton Lady Tigers were back in action last Monday, traveling to Downs to take on the Lakeside Lady Knights. Stockton won the first sets of both varsity matches, but ended up falling in the first match 25-22, 23-25, 19-25, and 25-25, 15-25, 13-25 in the second match.
