Stockton has been chosen as one of eight sites to host a Class 1A, Div. I Sub-State Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, October 24. The host sites are as follows: #1 Montezuma-South Gray; #2 Kinsley; #3 Stockton; #4 Sylvan-Lucas Unified; #5 Little River; #6 Udall; #7 Centralia; and #8 Lebo.

The Stockton Junior High Tigers were on the road to Hill City last Thursday for Mid-Continent Elementary League volleyball and football action. The Lady Tigers were victorious in both matches over Hill City with the A Team winning 25-17, 25-10, and the B Team coming out on top 25-19, 25-16.

The Stockton Tigers suffered a 46-8 loss to the Hill City Ringnecks in the district matchup of Mid-Continent League foes last Friday at Hill City. Penalties plagued both teams throughout the night, and the Tigers also lost a couple key players during the game to injury, which didn’t help their situation.

The Stockton Tigers cross country boys continue to represent Stockton well at the meets in which they run. Last Thursday the Tigers traveled to Beloit where Jonathan Hamel finished seventh with a time of 17:57. This marked the first time he has turned in a time under 18 minutes this season.

The Stockton Recreation Commission has begun the process of renovating Kincaid Field located in the City Park. Kincaid is the primary field of use for Stockton Rec hosting Coach Pitch, Traveling Youth Softball and Baseball, K18 Softball, and Adult League Softball, along with various tournaments and social functions throughout the year. Unfortunately, Kincaid is in dire need of repair. The Rec’s primary areas of concern and focus will be new fencing and backstop, moving the east retaining wall to allow for more parking, concrete work, spectator seating, field grading, and drainage. There will also be a new two-story storage shed with concessions and press box. There are also renovation plans for the Legend field located behind the tennis courts. SRC has already been greatly blessed by a $5,000.00 donation by Solutions North Bank for a new wireless scoreboard.

An enthusiastic and determined Stockton Tiger team took the field last Friday night for its Homecoming match-up with the undefeated Spearville Lancers. The Tigers, led by interim coaches Justin Basart and Clint Bedore, put up a very good fight, but came up short, falling 14-7.
