Nine Kansas lakes are under a blue-green algae warning or watch status

Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) issued their latest public health advisory update on Friday, July 14, due to blue-green algae. Webster Lake (Reservoir), which has been in a “Warning Advisory” for blue-green algae for nearly two months, has now been lifted.

Rooks County Free Fair makes KWCH News last Thursday

Members of the KWCH television station were in Stockton last Thursday to interview residents on what they remember about singer Taylor Swift’s performance when she sang at the Rooks County Free Fair in 2007. Swift, who is now a household name, performed to sold-out crowds on Friday and Saturday nights (July 7 and 8), at GEHA Field in Kansas City.

Area harvest update

As of Monday, July 10th, the Stockton Farmers Union Elevator has taken in 155,000 bushels of wheat, and the Woodston Coop has taken in 87,000 bushels of wheat. The protein remains strong, with the test weights dropping due to the recent rains.
