APPLES. It's an old saying: 'The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.' In the case of Ahaziah, he was like his dad and his mom. He became king of Israel after his dad, Ahab, died. And he only reigned over Israel for two years. God's Word says of him, 'He did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of his father and in the way of his mother' (1 Kings 22:52). That way was the way of utter wickedness. It was the ten northern tribes that rebelled against God and transitioned to worshipping the non-god named Baal. In other words, they left the worship of Jehovah God, the Creator. The Bible says specifically that Ahaziah 'served and worshiped' Baal and that he 'provoked the LORD God of Israel to anger according to all that his father had done' (1 Ki 22:51). The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Though the specific situation is unclear, we see that Ahaziah falls through the 'lattice' in an upper room of his palace and apparently falls to the floor below. How does he respond? Does he repent of his wickedness and return to worshiping Jehovah God? Nope!
