THE TRUE VACCINE. As we end 2022 and head into 2023, this is exactly the need we all have. Everyone is born incurably sick and in need of the one and only true vaccine. God, in Jeremiah 17:9, tells us, 'The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?' There is no human cure for man's sickness. There is no doctor who can cut it out to assuage its growth, no medication to reverse it, no home elixir to remedy it, and no exercise routine to defeat it. However, God Himself provided the one and only means of mediation— the only true vaccine— the blood of His eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. One of the blessings of 'the Christmas story' in the Bible is the reality that the main characters all received God's vaccine and were spiritually healed. Zacharias was clearly a man of true faith as he had continued praying for a son even in his old age. And so God sent Gabriel to him saying, 'your prayer is heard' (Luke 1:13). Mary said, 'my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior' (Luke 1:47). Hearing of Elizabeth's pregnancy, Mary went to visit her. When Mary entered the house, Elizabeth stated in Luke 1:43, 'why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?' Elizabeth had saving faith in the Promised Savior and now understood that Mary would bring Him into the world. Luke 1:6 says of Zacharias and Elizabeth, 'they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.' Joseph, too, was a 'just' or righteous man' (Matt. 1:19). The shepherds were told that their Savior had been born and so they went to Bethlehem to worship Him (Luke 2). And the wise men came looking for their King, and they, too, worshiped Him (Matt. 2:11). These all knew they were sinners in need of the true Vaccine for their sin—and they received it. The Good News, though, is that the Vaccine is still available to all who savingly trust Him!

Historical events create legacies that continue through the ages

Historical events create legacies that continue through the ages By Rick Gianni The Civil War era had the greatest influence establishing the American identity. It continues to spark arguments whether certain statues should stand or certain individuals’ names should be removed from a public institution. Yet, time can erase the historical background influencing the legacy. The connection to history can be forgotten. Some might not recognize something beloved was influenced by such a time of horror and sadness.
