Word was received on Monday afternoon of the passing of Barbara “Barb” Schindler, age 77, of Stockton.
Funeral services are pending at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton.

Arthur Norman “Art” Normandin, 63, of Damar, passed away May 5, 2023, at his home.
Art was the fifth child of seven, born April 24, 1960, in Hays, Kansas to Eugene and Anna Mae (Belisle) Normandin.
Art attended school in Damar and Palco. He was an oilfield roughneck, a painter, and a drywaller, and worked for BP Textiles until his death.
Art had the gift of gab. He was a fantastic storyteller and could make any of his tales hilarious. Although the stories sometimes seemed a bit far-fetched, he could prove every one of them as fact.
Robert Leroy Kern passed away on May 4, 2023, at Redbud Village in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 83.
He was born on August 11, 1939, to Norbert and Edna (Reese) Kern in Rooks County, Kansas. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Runyan, on June 5, 1960, in Plainville. They were blessed with three sons: Robert Jr, Paul, and David.
Patricia “Pat” Ann (Meyers) Norris passed away on May 4, 2023, at the Derby Health & Rehab in Derby, Kansas.
She was born on February 27, 1944, to Edmund and Virginia (Kriley) Meyers.
She grew up on the farm with her parents and brother Don. No electricity, no running water, no inside bathroom—but thought they were the richest people in the world! They had fun and didn’t know any better.
David James “Jim” Crandall, 69, of Swink, Colorado, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was born Monday, May 25, 1953, in Colorado Springs, to David C. & Melba J. “Jackie” (Greener) Crandall. Jim was the second of three children.
Jim attended and graduated from Gladstone High School in Covina, Calif. He served in Christian ministry most of his adult life, beginning in 1979 when he was ordained as a minister with the Assemblies of God. He served the Stockton Assembly of God Church from 1993 to 2000.
Curtis Dean Deutscher, age 69, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023, at his home in Ellis, Kansas.
He was born March 16, 1954, in Hays, the son of Carl H. and Amy E. (Moore) Deutscher.
Curtis attended school in Ellis, graduating in 1973. While in high school, he worked one summer for his brother, Gary, at his Texaco station. Following graduation, he worked in construction.
Curtis worked at Travenol for 15 years and for Walmart. He retired August 31, 2022, working 30 years for EnerSys.
Malachi Patrick Miller, 12, of Gorham, Kansas, entered eternity Monday, May 1, 2023, at his home after battling a year-long illness.
Malachi was born August 23, 2010, at his home, in a hurry to enter this world, as he arrived just minutes after the midwife rolled in. Malachi got to work immediately with his unique personality, sense of humor, and quick wit. He loved putting a smile on anyone’s face. Malachi was the fourth of six children affectionately known as the “Miller 6-pack.”
Dennis Eugene DeYoung, age 66, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023, at his home in Victoria.
Dennis was born July 11, 1956, to Stanley Calvin and Betty Jean (Osborn) DeYoung in Plainville, Kansas. He married Diane Elizabeth Geist on August 17, 1984, in Hays, Kansas. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2017.
He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator in the land and oilfield industries. In the late '70s and early '80s, he worked for Pan-Am Construction in Africa, Liberia, and Kenya, operating heavy equipment.
