BELOIT — When schools closed down in March, Reagan Cheney, who will be a sixth-grader this fall at Beloit Elementary, began thinking of ways she could keep busy and help out her community. Reagan, a 4-H member, loves to bake and decided to begin baking cupcakes and cookies for family and friends, with all the proceeds going to the Beloit Food Pantry. She named her business, “Love At First Bite” and created a flyer that her mom shared on Facebook. Immediately, the orders started rolling in. She also took orders for handmade cards to cheer up people during the COVID-19 stay-at-home order. Reagan filled orders for birthdays, treats for local businesses, and had a cousin from out of town donate money for baked goods to be delivered to the Beloit Police Department. When it was all said and done, Reagan raised over $400. Reagan then learned what items were most in need at the food pantry and shopped locally for all the items. On May 26, she delivered a truckload of food to the Beloit Food Pantry.
